Don’t cancel me, but I think the vast majority of “feminist” writing sucks balls. It’s usually too obvious and repetitive, too radfem, or too academic. Often, it’s all three.

This is probably true of special interest writing in general. It was certainly true of libertarian writing, back when I read a lot of that. In my (more limited) experience, it’s been true of “rationalists,” Marxists, accelerationists, reactionaries, etc.

I thought that was why I’d been putting off the task anyone in possession of one shred of marketing-related intuition or experience would complete first: Finding and reading the other writers in my niche.

As is often the case, my therapist unmasked that idea as a self-serving lie with some clever homework. This is a big part of why I pay him the big bucks far less than he deserves (if we’re being real).

He asked me to examine my relationship to my work, through the lens of Attachment Theory.
