Before I go any further, I want to make a case for why I think any of what follows matters. Yes, feminist infighting is a navel-gazing pastime for people with made-up internet jobs. At the same time, in this case, I do think it matters IRL.

“Feminism,” as we’ve discussed, is the movement against sexism. There isn’t another one. Looking back, I think it’s an unfortunate name. But “feminism” is what we call the movement we have.

Unfortunately for everyone except sexism, to the extent that anyone knows anything about feminism, a lot of what they know is wrong. 

Today, I want to begin to explain why that is and what is true instead.
