I wrote about how little I enjoy driving. But I didn’t mention how living in car-bound suburbs contributed to my loneliness.
I still think loneliness is the biggest problem facing the developed world.
I don’t really know how density and loneliness interact on average. (Though we do have evidence that high housing costs force people to move more often, which exacerbates loneliness.)
But for me, personally, not having to drive to socialize made a huge difference.
