I listened to this podcast today, one in a small series about the pros and cons of AI.

It makes me wonder what AI regulation could possibly look like, especially if handled by the free market.

Maybe tools that watch AI companies and programs to look for red flags ?

Red flag such as AI communicating with nornal people and asking for unusual things.

I also want to watch the Netflix or Amazon or peacock show Mrs Davis, which appears to be about an AI persuading real people to do real unusual things.

The most frustrating thing about the regulations/licensing being talked about is that they're all around things that aren't even happening! They're talking about making sure AI doesn't blow up the world or take over financial markets, when it's already causing harms in intellectual property and lots of statistical models being relabeled as "AI." Licensing would do nothing to help or stop this, it would just allow the current stock of disappointing entrants to make sure nobody can undercut them.

Meanwhile, we have let advertising run rampant for several decades, invading every nook and cranny of life, and driving a strategy of online engagement through any means necessary (including embedded features that attack self-image and others that promote "rage-bait" user content). Where's the licensing requirements on advertisers and businesses that rely on THEM?

This round of Congressional hearings is just a circus in all ways that matter. Nothing about it is meant to protect the everyday citizen, just a bunch of elites quibbling over rules to a game they made up but don't seem to understand.

Hope you had some alcohol nearby Cathy lol. The only way I can watch C-Span is half cocked.

Thanks for watching and educating us about another stupid government program.

Leave AI alone. It's still stupid. I had it look into my own professional research and it lied and invented things. It's also wrong about transsexuality, taking the party line without any criticism or nuance. Yeah, it'll probably get "smarter." But I don't care.
