Listen now (5 min) | Welcome to Sex and the State, a newsletter about power. I’m a writer working on decriminalizing and destigmatizing all things sex. I synthesize empirical evidence, stories, and personal experience to interrogate existing power structures to propose new, hopefully better, ways of relating.
Growing up in the South it’s interesting how people pushing religion seems like a normal everyday occurrence. From just the throw away “have a blessed day” to questions about whether you’ve “found Jesus” religion or should I say Christianity is woven into the fabric of life.
Fortunately most people even in the South, are only nominally religious, but the other ones who are have no filter.

I do love these missives which help give me perspective (and reassurance) about my own relationship to a south I both embody and struggle with. Thanks
