Why I won’t be posting for the next three weeks

My friend wants to visit Taiwan before China takes it over. And he's taking me with him! Fun fact: Taiwan was the first Asian country to legalize same-sex marriage.

Sadly, that means you won’t be getting your regular Sex and the State posts on sex, gender, and politics. I love you, but not enough to spend hours reading about intimate partner violence (for the post I was writing until my friend confirmed that we’re going and we both leaped into trip planning and prep) while I’m visiting Asia for the first time.

It will be hard, but we’ll get through this together.

I’ll definitely write something about the trip when I’m back. Don’t you worry about that.
