What I find intolerable
This week in therapy we talked about accepting people for who they are as opposed to who we wish they were. That gap is where a lot of my pain and reactivity live, I guess? “Acceptance is the answer to all of my problems today.”
I still need to finish GONADs, which is all about expanding the space between stimulus and response. But along those lines, my homework this week is to think about what I find intolerable to sit next to. What can I not sit with without trying to fix? What prompts a reaction rather than a response? And, of course, why?
