TV Tuesdays 37: Fleishman is in Trouble
Welcome to the 37th TV Tuesday! Today I want to talk about Fleishman is in Trouble. I remember seeing an ad for this show a million years ago, probably while watching another show on Hulu, and noticing how many big stars are in it and thinking it’s probably good.
But I didn’t put it on my list until I heard definitely Lizzy Caplan and I believe Jesse Eisenberg on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend Podcast. And by then I was like I gotta check this out.
It’s truly everything fiction should be. It’s true-to-life, but better than life. It cuts out the boring parts and uses hyperbole expertly. It’s realistic problems, but the kind that are more fun to think about. It’s house-in-the-Hamptons, prep-school problems.
It sucks you in. I’m five or so episodes in and there’s so much I need to know. I think about it when I’m not watching it. The characters are so realistic and interesting and complex and funny and likable. I think I’m going to read the novel.
