On my post about whether humanity needs men, The Nerd wrote: “I don't really see how the gender vs. sex distinction is actually that important here honestly.”
That seems like a worthwhile question. Is the distinction between sex and gender important to the ongoing discussion about sex and politics that is this newsletter? Is it important to other, perhaps even more important (as if!), conversations?
In sum, I think “sex” describes the reality that men can physically overpower women. “Gender” gives them the right to do it.
