Marriage rates in the US are down, mostly due to increasingly educated women rejecting bottom-half men without a degree.

thinks women are raising their standards. Maybe. But let’s also consider the evidence that men are getting worse.Maybe women can and should reasonably expect their marriages to bottom-half men to be crappier along every dimension than similar marriages in previous decades.
Dr. Evans does an excellent job illustrating how women today don’t face the same cultural and economic pressure to marry as we did in previous decades. (related).
So we can be choosier. And maybe we are.
Plus, bottom-half men aren’t bringing the same income to the table. And we know they’re not getting better enough, fast enough, in other areas to make up for it. If anything, research shows that men who make less money are actually worse than men who make more along every other dimension.
I’d like to suggest that the bar is still in Hell when it comes to women’s standards for men.
I think marriage is down, and down especially among bottom-half men, in large part because their personalities are actually getting measurably worse.
