Controversial opinion: Social conservatives aren't bad

My internet friend Aaron Ross Powell recently wrote about why social conservatism sucks. (Check out his interview with me if you haven’t yet.)

I wholeheartedly agree that social conservatism sucks. Having grown up a Republican, Ann-Coulter-loving, true-believer, True-Love-Waits Southern Baptist in the Deep South, I know of what I speak.

Second, I’m very low in agreeableness in the OCEAN/Big Five sense.

So, despite broadly agreeing that social conservatism is bad, I kept wanting to steel-man conservatism while reading.
